Near and Far
A thing perceived as the ground
A dirt dimension
Seems to stretch out forever
Some areas of the dirt plane
Are
Covered in
Large pools of liquid
An arrangement that seems to work well
Dirt plus liquid creates alien creatures
Aliens move across the dirt
Some utilize four legs
Some eight
Others just two
Some move fast
Some slow
Sometimes they stop
And look out across the dirt
They look to points far beyond
The range of their rolling marble eyeballs
Too far to see what is there
To look at the dirt beneath one’s feet is to look near
To look at the green dot of a tree on the horizon is to look far
To look into a blue sky
Is to be unsure
How near or far one is looking
Because the sky is near and far
At the same time
